“Pompeii Group size was way too big. We lost a ton of time waiting for folks that didn’t show up or later got lost or didn’t make it back in time. This is in control of the operation and needs to be fixed. Bring your own water. Buying water at Pompeii is 2euros each, 4 for a coke. Guide was good, but the place is way overcrowded. Find a time to go off season if you can. Skip the summer if possible. Vesuvius was fun, but rushed. Only 80 minutes to hurry to the top, take photos, grab a souvenir, wine, and head down. “Pompeii was amazing, we liked that we had headsets to hear the guide. She took us to amazing parts of the site. We wished we could have seen more. The transportation was chaotic. The bus we were on met up with other buses creating chaos to where we needed to go. On leaving the site we encountered a monsoon rain and the guide rushed down the hill so fast we could not keep up with the group and waited around in torrential rain looking for our bus or guides. “We went on a day of flash flooding which was no fault of the tour company. We stayed on the bus for the whole tour round twice one after the other The driver was very good and coped with the flooded roads without panicking. he reversed the bus when the road was flooded to get through with ease and calm. We would like to go back to Livorno and do the bus tour again as it looked so nice down by the sea front and go on the funicular railway hopefully without the rain.”
